The start of something extraordinary

Snyders shows speed in Santa Clara

Glenn Snyders showed speed to finish second in the 50m breaststroke on the final day of the Arena Pro Series meet at Santa Clara in California.

The Los Angeles-based Snyders clocked 28.26s to finish second behind Brazil’s Felipe Lima, the 2013 world championship silver medallist.

Fellow Kiwi Corey Main was ninth in the 100m backstroke in 55.93s after the University of Florida swimmer was 11th in the 50m backstroke at the weekend in 26.00s.

Lauren Boyle did not swim on the final day, after qualifying third in the 400m freestyle prelims in 4:08.89.

Boyle, who competed after a training stint at altitude in Mexico, had always planned to leave on Friday to return to her training base in Queensland for the start of the training week.
